Steptember 1, 2010 - MVA - Alexandria Dr/200 section
The driver of the blue Jeep was uninjured when her vehicle drove up onto a vehicle parked in a fire lane. The Jeep sat teetered on the driver's side, with the driver still in the vehicle, until rescue personnel secured both vehicles together with chocks and ratchet straps. Firefighters then assisted the driver out of the vehicle, unscathed. Mansfield Township Police are investigating the accident.

August 28, 2010 - Structure Fire - Rockport Rd. residence
A dog is being credited with saving his owner, and his house, from a fire that started in the garage, directly underneath where he was sleeping. Mansfield Township firefighters acted quickly to extinguish the fire before it had the chance to spread. The fire was contained to the garage area without causing any structural damage, except for slight charring of a floor beam. Assisting the Mansfield fire companies were Hackettstown and Washington Township Fire Departments.

August 11, 2010 - Vehicle Fire - Winchester Ave. near tennis courts
Mansfield Township firefighters were alerted to a working vehicle fire with initial reports of the vehicle being near a house. Tri-County Chief 29-60 arrived on scene to confirm that the vehicle was in the roadway with no threat to any structures. The crew from 29-61 pulled a 1 3/4" handline and began extinguishment as the crew from 29-63 stretched their handline. The bulk of the fire was knocked down in less than 5 minutes as 29-63's crew doused hotspots. A local resident generously provided cold bottled water to the firefighters on a hot and humid day. Many thanks for the relief!

August 4, 2010 - Ruptured Gas Line - Main St./Church St. Hackettstown
A construction crew accidentally ruptured a main gas line, causing evacuations and closing off a two-block area of Main St. for over three hours. Tri-County and Hackettstown firefighters cordoned off pedestrian traffic in the area while Warren County and New Jersey Department of Transportation handled vehicular traffic detours. August 2, 2010 - Structure Fire - 6 Port Colden Rd. Washington Twp (Warren)
At 2am, Tri-County was alerted for 29-75 to fill air bottles and provide scene lighting for a residential structure fire. A male resident bailed out of the second floor of the house and was transported to a local hospital for his injuries. For more information, click here for news article from lehighvalleylive.com

June 30, 2010 - MVA - Rt. 57 at Columbia Too
No one was hurt when two cars collided, sending one vehicle into the woods and another vehicle into a tree.

June 19, 2010 - MVA Car vs. Tree - Rt. 57 near Snyder Bus Service
While Tri-County was at Delaware Park Fire Company's 100th Anniversary parade, the Mansfield Fire Companies were alerted to a serious MVA involving a car impacting a tree. Tri-County's members responded with 29-75 from Delaware Park's firehouse, located in Lopatcong Township. Due to the severity of the MVA and 29-75 being 20 minutes away, mutual aid was requested from Washington Boro and Oxford Rescue Squads for their heavy rescue units. Tri-County eventually made it to the scene, just as the passenger side door was being removed from the vehicle. Firefighters assisted with removal of the second patient and scene clean up. Many thanks to Washington Boro (83 Rescue), Oxford (39 Rescue), Franklin (56 Rescue), and Hackettstown (78 Rescue) Squads for assisting while we were out of town!

June 15, 2010 - Drill - Centenary College/Van Winkle Hall
Tri-County had the opportunity to drill with Hackettstown, Allamuchy, Independence, and Washington Boro Fire Departments at one of Centenary College's dormitories. The building, vacant due to the summer break, provided a good backdrop for firefighters to train in search and rescue, firefighter assistance, and mayday calls. Firefighters went through two evolutions, both involving "firefighter down" or "mayday" scenarios. Both scenarios were successful, and firefighters earned essential training in "mayday" situations.

May 26, 2010 - Wires Down/Brush Fire - Rt. 57 between Heiser Rd. and Watters Rd.
A tree brought down power lines, which in turn started a brush fire on a dry, hot day. Firefighters were held back briefly, until power was shut down, to extinguish the slow-moving brush fire. Tri-County was assisted by the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. Route 57 was closed for over two hours as Port Murray FC and Butler Park FC detoured traffic around the area.

May 11, 2010 - MVA car on guardrail - Rt. 57/construction site near Watters Rd.
The driver of the SUV was unhurt when his vehicle hit construction barriers and came to rest on a guardrail on the opposite side of Route 57.

May 5, 2010 - Vehicle Fire - Mansfield Village
A vehicle leaking fuel sparked a fire that was contained to the engine compartment. Thankfully, no exposures were affected.

April 16, 2010 - MVA 3 vehicles - Rt. 57/Watters Rd.
Three people were injured in an MVA that snarled the Route 57 morning rush.

April 12, 2010 - MVA car vs. pole - Rt. 57 near River Ct.
Firefighters handled a vehicle that took down a utility pole and ended up in the woods. No serious injuries were reported, and Route 57 was shut down in both directions until the utility pole was repaired, causing traffic to spill onto back roads.

March 29, 2010 - Furnace Backfire - Stephensburg Rd. residence - Washington Twp. (Morris)
Joined by firefighters from Schooley's Mountain and Long Valley Fire Companies, Tri-County used thermal imaging cameras on loan from Firefighter One to track down any fire and heat from a furnace that was caked over with soot and ended up backfiring into the residence.

March 23, 2010 - Drill - Burn Building/Search and Rescue - Warren County Fire Academy
Tri-County firefighters teamed up with firefighters from Butler Park Fire Company (Station 27) and Mt. Bethel Fire/Rescue (Station 26) to train at Warren County Fire Academy's burn building. Firefighters had the chance to perform basic room-and-contents fire containment as well as search and rescue of "victims". WCFA instructors supervised the teams during their revolutions and had a chance to critique each team at the end. Special thanks to Butler Park's Marvin Kocher, Jr. for setting up the drill.

March 20, 2010 - MVA car vs. trees - Route 57 near Heiser Rd.
The driver of the red pickup escaped injury after becoming entrapped in her vehicle which was surrounded by three downed pine trees. Port Murray and Tri-County firefighters used a chainsaw to cut and clear the large branches surrounding the vehicle while EMT's from Mansfield EMS checked on the lone occupant, who refused transport to the hospital. The force of the collision embedded one of the downed trees and pushed the entire front end inward 16 inches, exposing the frame.

March 15, 2010 - Kitchen Fire - Mansfield Village - Building 58
Unattended cooking led to a fire that originated on the stove and spread to an exhaust fan. Firefighters were able to make a good stop before the fire had a chance to spread.

March 1, 2010 - Chimney Fire - Hazen Rd. residence
A residential chimney fire was quickly contained by the efforts of the Mansfield Fire companies.

Feb. 12, 2010 - Natural Gas Leak - Warren Haven Nursing Home - 350 Oxford Rd.
The Mansfield Fire Companies and EMS were called to investigate a strong odor of natural gas eminating from the 180-bed extended care nursing facility. As a precaution, Tri-County laid a 3-inch supply line from a nearby hydrant and stood by at the employee entrance. The crew from 29-61 also ventilated the 1st floor in the process as well. A group of firefighters from Port Murray and Mt. Bethel secured the patient rooms while another group disabled the natural gas source. Fire units stood by until the gas line was secured by the gas company. No residents or firefighters were injured.

Feb. 6, 2010 - Vehicle Fire - Rockport Rd. Residence
Fresh off the heels of a winter storm, firefighters were called to a working vehicle fire at a private residence. This call was challenging for firefighters; the vehicle was located 3/4 of the way up a narrow, windy, 3,000 foot driveway which was covered in snow and ice. Since only 4x4 vehicles can maneuver the dangerous driveway, Port Murray's 28-81 was called in to provide water. Firefighters exhausted the truck's tank and four fire extinguishers before the last bits of flame were doused with the only other possible source -- snow! Special thanks to Mansfield Twp. DPW and KTB Landscaping for providing salt for a safe trip back down the driveway.

Jan. 26, 2010 - T-Bone MVA - Asbury-Anderson Rd. at Rymon Rd. - Washington Twp. (Warren)
Tri-County was dispatched to assist Washington in a classic T-bone MVA. One driver was airlifted to an area trauma center while the other driver was transported to a local hospital. This MVA occurred at the same time as another MVA with a fatality within the center of Washington Boro.
